Kendrick Lamar is about to make a comeback and we couldn’t be more ready.

Get excited, people, as word on the street is Kendrick could be dropping a new album in 2020.

It’s been three years since his last studio album Damn was released in 2017 and now Kendrick is eyeing up a return to the charts, after finally ‘finishing recording’ new material.

Billboard’s Bill Werde got us all excited over on Twitter, while claiming Kendrick has wrapped up his new album and it’s going to be taking on more of a ‘rock ‘ vibe this time round.

He tweeted: ‘Did anyone not named Beyonce release better, more meaningful back-to-back albums last decade than Kendrick Lamar? Are you interested to know that I hear from several friends that recording on the new album may finally be done? And that he’s pulling in more rock sounds this time?’

Um, yes Bill. Yes we are.

In a second tweet, he added: ‘A lot of huge albums expected in 2020. I’ll be surprised if there’s one I listen to more closely the first time than this one.’

A release date is still yet to be confirmed, however, and Bill did point out that there could still be work to be done, saying: ‘Also, just to be clear, just because recording had hit a point where folks believe it may be finished — albums go back to the studio all the time after this point, and for a million different reasons.’

Fingers crossed this one gets the green light and pronto.

Back in November, it was reported that Kendrick, who welcomed his first child with fiancee Whitney Alford in July last year, could be in the running for a Glastonbury headlining slot at the festival’s 50th anniversary in June – joining already confirmed headliner Paul McCartney.

Emily Eavis dropped major hints about this year’s remaining headliners, revealing that it’ll be the pair’s ‘first time’ at Glasto, which actually narrows potential performers down a lot, if you wanted to play a game of Guess Who.

‘Interestingly, for the other two headliners it’s their first time at Glastonbury. And we’ve got one male and one female, so there are a couple of clues there. I’m sure people will guess,’ she teased during an interview on BBC Radio 2.

Bookies favourites are Kendrick and Taylor Swift and we are so here for it, you?
