Michelle Keegan is not a fan of being asked about babies all the time

Michelle Keegan is not a fan of being constantly asked when she is going to have a baby and has hit out at the double standards in relationships.

The actress, 33, has been married to husband Mark Wright for five years and the couple have said that while they would like children, they are in no rush to start a family.

Instead, both Mark and Michelle have been focusing on their careers, with former Coronation Street star Michelle filming for BBC series Our Girl over the last few years.

Playing army medic Georgie Lane has taken Michelle away from home, as filming had always been overseas in the likes of Malaysia and South Africa and for long periods of time.

Following the fourth series dropping, Michelle announced her decision to quit the show and she says everyone questioned whether it was because she wanted to have a baby.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan for its August issue, Michelle admitted it left her ‘frustrated’ and pointed out that nobody would ask her husband Mark the same question.

She said: ‘A few years ago it didn’t bother me and I answered the question, but now I think, “I don’t need to answer that,” because nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors.

‘I remember when I finished Our Girl people were like, “is it because you’re going off to have a baby?” I know for a fact if Mark finished a job, nobody would as him if he was going to have a baby.’

‘It’s not’s fair,’ Michelle vented. ‘It does make me feel frustrated.’

She also hit back at speculation that surfaced about her marriage while she was working overseas and Mark was based over in Los Angeles working on US entertainment show Extra.

Michelle said she ‘doesn’t understand’ why going away for work and making a career for yourself is immediately seen as a negative thing.

She branded claims her marriage had come under pressure because of her working away ‘ridiculous’.

Michelle and Mark first got together in 2012, after meeting in Dubai over New Year, and nine months later the former Towie star popped the question.

The pair later wed in May 2015 in front of their family and friends at a lavish ceremony held in Bury St Edmonds.

Celebrating five years married, Michelle – who usually tends to keep her relationship with Mark away from the public eye – shared a black and white shot of the pair on their wedding day with fans on Instagram.

She wrote: ‘5 years ago today. Happy Wedding Anniversary @wrighty_ Thank you for always holding my hand.’

Mark did the same and said: ‘Happy 5 years @michkeegan Thank you for being you, making me smile every day and Thank you for being my biggest supporter. Love you always x
