The big Xbox Series X games event, including the unveiling of Halo Infinite, supposedly won’t take place until much later in the month.
It’s now July, and officially the second half of 2020, and the list of things we still don’t know about the next gen consoles remains alarmingly long.
Microsoft has been generally more forthcoming with news about the Xbox Series X than Sony has for the PlayStation 5, but they’ve still barely said anything about its first party games, which is something that is due to change this month.
A new Xbox 20/20 online event is planned for some time in Jul but so far we don’t know when, although a reliable source suggests it’s the week beginning 20 July.

VenutreBeat’s Jeff Grubb has been pretty accurate with his predictions so far this year – as much as anyone can be when companies keep changing their plans at the last minute.
But in the minefield of preview events and E3 replacements he has the next Xbox 20/20 pegged as sometime from Monday, 20 July. The last Xbox 20/20 was on a Thursday, so maybe 23 July.
Microsoft originally implied they’d have a new event every month until the Xbox Series X’s release, but they’ve since backtracked on that and claimed that’s not what they meant.
Although it seems more likely they did intend to have a June event originally, possibly to unveil the cheaper Xbox Series S, aka Lockhart.
It’s not only Microsoft’s plans which remain opaque though, as now that Sony’s announced the PlayStation 5’s initial line-up of games there’s no real clue as to when to expect anything else out of them.
Grubb has them down vaguely for sometime in August, but if Microsoft announces the price of their new consoles this month then it’s very likely that Sony will respond in short order.
Both companies have admitted they’re waiting to see what the other will do in terms of price, which is part of the reason there’s been so little solid information so far.
